The traveler can purchase, with tax exemption, in the duty free shops of ports and airports, after landing in Brazil and before their presentation to customs inspection, goods up to the total value of U$ 500.00. This amount is not debited from the baggage exemption quota to which the traveler is entitled. In addition to the global limit of U$ 500.00, goods purchased in duty-free stores are subject to the following quantitative limits: 24 units of alcoholic beverages, observing the maximum quantity of 12 units per type of beverage 20 packs of foreign-made cigarettes 25 units of cigars or cigarillos 250g of tobacco prepared for pipes 10 units of toiletries 3 units of watches, electrical or electronic machines, appliances, equipment, toys, games or instruments
-
Children under 18 years of age, even accompanied, cannot purchase alcoholic beverages and tobacco items.
-
Goods purchased in duty-free stores in Brazil, at the time of the traveler's departure abroad, in duty free stores abroad and those purchased in duty free stores, catalogs and exhibitions inside buses, aircraft or travel vessels have the same treatment as other goods purchased abroad, becoming part of the traveler's luggage. In summary, these goods do not take advantage of the benefit of the exemption granted to purchases in duty-free stores in Brazil, made at the time of the traveler's arrival.
Travel Insurance
Many may think that travel insurance is, but we advise and recommend all our passengers to purchase insurance along with the cruise.
Not all trips are mandatory to have insurance, most are optional, mainly national, but you have to think that when travel insurance is purchased, it covers not only a possible loss of luggage but also health insurance, of which inside the ship the price is much higher than what we are used to. Especially because inside the ship it is considered international waters, even though it is on itineraries within Brazil. And it will always be charged in dollars or euros. So prevent yourself, make sure.
Another advantage of insurance for those who purchase it with the cruise are the cancellation clauses that we mention so much to our passengers. Insurance companies have cancellation clauses that contain from 5 to 29 reasons that assure the passenger when canceling the cruise and having the amount refunded.
We at Cruze & Mar first use Universal Assistance (Travel Ace) and Assist Card insurance directly with the companies because the insurance will already cover everything mentioned above, but the acquisition together with the cruise will always be optional.
We also sell only insurance with all the best insurance companies in the world for you.

Important information about passenger deportation
Dear Member, Below we relay a communication received from ABAV Nacional, dealing with important information about the deportation of passengers. Sincerely, Luiz A. Strauss de Campos President
Ref: Denial of entry into a foreign country.
Discretionary power of the Border Police.
Dear Sirs,
President Carlos Alberto Amorim Ferreira, concerned about the recent events involving Brazilians in some countries of the European Community and, as a consequence, with ongoing demands, aiming to solidarize the tourism agencies in any illegal acts of the aforementioned border police, determined to the Legal Consultancy a legal position to pass on to the members, which results in the present advice.
It is not new that this Legal Consultancy maintains the inexistence of joint and several liability between the provider of intermediation services and the provider of air transport services, in view of the contractual fault of the latter and, with much more reason, tourism agencies should not be pointed out as joint and several in discretionary acts practiced by the border authorities.
It is to take the consequences of a civil offense too far.
There must be proof of the damage done by the tourism agency and the causal link with the illegal act.
In a recent case, the Superior Court of Justice, * A.I nº 876.646.- MG (2007-0042163-7), Min. Aldir Passarinho Junior, understood exactly, as this Legal Consultancy argues, that the tourism agency is not responsible for discretionary acts of the border police. - Attached document - *see the judgment and its developments on the website of the Superior Court of Justice.
As the issue is repetitive and is not exhausted in this judgment, ABAV advises tourism agencies, which mediate the sale of airline tickets, to take the following precautions:
1. WARN ON THEIR WEBSITE, BROCHURES, CONTRACTS OR IN ANY OTHER UNEQUIVOCAL WAY THAT: "Travelers must carry their documents in order, present or comply with the requirements of the country visited and carry an entry visa when required".
2. ALSO WARN THAT EVEN WITH ALL DOCUMENTS AND VISA, the border police, in a discretionary act, may prevent the entry of any citizen.
Tourism agencies have the duty to inform and prepare their defense of possible imputation for material and moral losses and damages, by EXCLUSION OF THIRD PARTY LIABILITY.
Sincerely and at your disposal
Paulo Roberto Wiedmann

Retention of old passport with expired visa
RETENTION OF OLD PASSPORT WITH EXPIRED VISAS:
The Federal Police, when requesting a new passport/new model, is collecting the applicant's old passports, which do not have a valid visa and for this reason, we advise all applicants that, before applying for the new Brazilian passport, take a CERTIFIED photocopy of the old passport, before delivering it to the PF.
We emphasize that, in order to revalidate visas for the USA, it is mandatory to present a certified copy of the previous visa and pages 01, 02 and 03 of the passport or the original passport with the visa. The lack of a certified copy or original passport will result in the need to schedule an interview, without the privileges granted to those who have already obtained a visa and this expired less than 01 year ago.
Likewise, the Canadian Consulate always requests a copy of previous Canadian visas.
